A fan’s night is quite different from advanced and blocks screening. Though they both have a small program prior to the movie showing in a fan’s night, you are the one who pays and reserve your tickets. You are giving away freebies like my friends and I received a tumbler of popcorn, drink and the uber adorable Baby Groot figurine. You also have a free photo souvenir. We paid for all of it for 470php and we got a chance to see the anticipated sequel ahead of most of cinemagoers.
It was 2014 when Marvel Studios released Guardians of the Galaxy and this has been my favorite Marvel superhero team film. I watched it in an advanced screening and I didn’t forget how this movie made me very happy, entertained and appreciated classic songs more.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 brought back our favorite five ‘a-holes’: Peter Quil aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Batista), Rocket (Voice Over by Bradley Cooper) and Baby Groot (Voice Over by Vin Diesel). There are new characters that give more flavorful and colorful satisfaction. And of course, the former characters that we love or hate are very much present.
I listed down the TOP THREE reasons why I still can’t move on with GOTG Volume 2!
- Ego’s Planet and the emphatic Mantis. In the first Guardians of the Galaxy, we were clueless who Peter Quill’s father is. In Volume 2, we are being introduced with Ego (Kurt Russell), the real father of Peter, who created a planet which he name to himself and said to be one of the god-like Celestials. Along with him is Mantis (Pom Klementieff), his emphatic assistant whom Drax kept on teasing because of her… err ugly face but has a beautiful heart. Really Drax?! It was not a ‘father-son’ happy reunion because behind the sudden pop up of Ego to Peter’s life, he is hiding something which is powerful and can destroy everyone’s existence.
- The Sovereign Race and Ravagers to the Rescue. The gang is back because they were being tasked by Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki), Queen of Sovereign to defend valuable batteries in exchange for freeing Nebula. They finished the job yet because of Rocket’s stealing they find themselves attacked by the fleet of drones sent by Ayesha. In desperation, Ayesha hired Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker), Peter’s father figure and leader of Ravagers to capture the Guardians.
- Heart warming scenes and soundtracks, more laughs and whooping five film credits! Prepare your mouth because you will laugh a lot from the very start of the film. The witty banter and naughtiness that these five thrown into each other were unstoppable. Star Lord is my all time favorite character yet Baby Groot has been too adorable not to love, Rocket is a kick-ass smart raccoon which I admired, Drax’s sense of humor (yes he sometimes have!) is super awesome and hands up to Gamora’s strength. Volume Two had shown more about the love of a family which can bring tears to your eyes; especially the unexpected death. You would also go gaga with the songs they compiled in Quill’s mixed tape. It was superb to your listening pleasure! Don’t you dare leave the cinema house because you have to catch five film credits that make you excited for the upcoming Marvel films!
I’m thrilled that I went to the Fan’s Night and I’ve finally seen Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2! I assured you that you would love and enjoy it to the fullest!
