Last October 16 while Typhoon Karen was hitting the Metro Manila, I was struggling to go to SM Mall of Asia Music Hall because I was scared of the flood and the difficulty of riding a cab from Valenzuela to Pasay. Yet, BDJ Fair is a special celebration to every Bellas and I couldn’t miss it at all.
I arrived at the venue around lunch time and it was already full of people. I registered first and got my VIP pass. Because it was too crowded, I decided to check the booths and took photos of the some places that I was able to visit. Sadly, most of the games were shooting the ball and I sucked that day. It was challenging, especially in the Vedette booth where there were small buckets and you need to shoot three out of five.
I pre-ordered the planner online and I was very pleased with the new designs. I ‘m truly excited to use my newest BDJ Planner for 2017 and I will share it with you, very soon.
Aside from the booths and activities that you can check out during the fair, one of the highlights are the motivating talks that the BDJ team prepared.
One of the talks that I signed for was Empowering Yourself to Succeed. Miss Abby Arenas couldn’t make it that day because her flight was delayed due to the typhoon and good thing there was Miss Elmie Candungog, the Marketing Representative from Wacoal to take her place.
Miss Elmie shared her experiences and obstacles before she reached her position. She also included the effects of Low Esteem and the things you should do to boost your self-esteem.
Effects of Low Esteem:
- Anxiety and Depression
- Low Productivity
- Poor Personal Relationship
- Over Dependency
- Health Concerns
- Surround yourself with Positive People
- Invest your Personal Growth (Education)
- Reward Yourself
- Don’t Compare Yourself to Others (Remember: We are all unique!)
- You can Do Something Better
- Stop Criticism! (Don’t criticize yourself; don’t criticize others either.)
I was thrilled when I was given a spot to be attended and listen to Overcoming Insecurities by Maxene Magalona. Not only that Maxene is a celebrity, but she is one of the most inspiring persons in the showbiz industry today.
The struggle of graduating from college and working as a showbiz personality at the same time was real for Maxene. She started studying in Ateneo De Manila last 2004 but only received her diploma with flying colors in 2010.
She talked about how she shoved the bashing, insecurities and rolled eyes thrown to her. Maxene’s encouraging quotes will make stop being insecure and start to become the BETTER YOU!
“I feel beautiful when I accepted myself.”
“You are too beautiful with too much insecurity.”
“If you set your mind, soul and heart to it, anything is possible.”
I always love Belle De Jour's talks and the 2017 theme is my favorite so far.
Every now and then we face challenges and to thrive with our everyday struggles, we should strive to push our self further, empower our self to succeed, embrace our flawless beauty so we can spread hope, inspiring happiness within and heading out and making an impact. Having this perspective, we can always Rise Above the Waves, Bellas!
Thank you Belle De Jour for this another succesful event! Great job!
