How do you see yourself when you get old?
Meet Ben Whittaker, a 70 year old widower and a retired executive who worked for phone Directory Company. When he saw an advertisement, looking for ‘senior interns’ for a known fashion online store, he immediately applied for it!
Let me share with you the three things that I love about the film!
1. Old versus Modern
The concept of putting a senior intern in a very modern world like online fashion is superb! I enjoyed the exchange of ideas of Jules and Ben, the cool bonding of the interns and regular employees and the clash of beliefs from youngsters and oldies.
2. The Robert De Niro-Anne Hathaway combination.
Who have thought these two will have chemistry? Not in romantic way, of course! I love Anne Hathaway with Devil Wears Prada and this time she portrayed, Jules Ostin (the owner of About the Fit) which reminded me of Andrea Sach’s fashion and heart. Hands down to Robert De Niro! Ben Whitaker is an adorable grandfather, awesome buddy, great confidante and loyal co-worker! I enjoyed seeing his serious, but laughable reactions and silent gestures!
3. Realization and Reality
This film opens my mind about what will happen to us when we reached our ‘senior years’. It was shown for quite sometime how boring and habitual the life style of our dear elderly like exercising, traveling and staying at home. The movie, though emphasizes about funerals. During younger years, friends see each other by hanging around at mall, parties and celebration. But when you reach 60’s and 70’s, you and your friends meet during someone’s funeral. Sad but true.
