After being at home for three days without social media interaction, I was like a bird that been released from its cage. The first thing that I did this Monday: go to the mall and see Can’t Help Falling In Love on the first screening. I experienced like a contestant from Amazing Race because I only had ten minutes to catch the 11:40 screening. Luckily, I bought the ticket, five minutes before the film started!
I’m not a fan of KathNiel. I believed this is the first movie from them that I’ve seen because I was very curious on how they ended as a married couple without knowing. Nice teaser and plot, correct? But, I found the film is more than that.
A bit of spoiler, but if this will convince you to watch this romantic comedy movie tomorrow, why not right?
Meet the Charismatic Dos or Jose Ibarra Gonzales Jr.
Daniel Padilla is the impeccable choice. The initial shot that introduces him, I immediately knew that he is too good to be Dos. He is a travel blogger/happy-go-lucky guy who lives life like there is no tomorrow. I love how he rides that blue cab as his service transportation and those enigmatic smile and charm you cannot resist. Whenever Dos calls Gab as Misis, butterflies are swarming in my belly! I swear that was the sweetest endearment that I’ve heard so far!
And Gab aka Gabriela Dela Cuesta, the almost perfect girlfriend.
Of course, we all want to be the best girlfriend anyone can have, right? Kathryn played Gab incredibly. I was happy and sad for her character because she has shown too much of most of the women who falls in love with their ideal guy that always need permission and approval before moving ahead. Gab is a reflection of a lady who is scared of making mistakes over her life because she does not want to fail her family and most especially herself. I was glad that for one night, she let her be herself. You go girl!
The Combination of Family First and Being Religious…
In every Filipino film, there is always this touch of love from the family. This really shows how important our families with us and we will do everything for them. Gab does not want to became a failure of her mother (Cherry Pie Picache) who has a grudge towards their father for all the mistakes in her life and Dos who grew up with his adoptive parents (Mama 2 –Lotlot De Leon and Papa 2- Dennis Padilla) whom are very close to him. Both have close and great relationships with their parents. Dos is a very religious man. Every day that he wakes up without a headache, he is extremely grateful to the Lord. There is a reason behind it which you have to find out why. :)
Here comes the Marriage Proposal and existing Marriage Contract!
What will you do if your boyfriend of six years popped up the magic question to forever? Gab said yes, amidst that she is not sure if she is ready to walk down the aisle. I can see the hesitation in her eyes, but then she has to agree to the proposal because she was surrounded by her family. Everything is smooth sailing not until a document was delivered to Gab’s home containing a Marriage Contract! Gab has been married to Dos for a year! The exciting part: how did it happen and what should she do to terminate the marriage? Again, you certainly have to go to the cinema house as soon as possible!
Most Memorable Lines/Quotes (I tried to remember the exact words and everything. It was difficult not to have notes beside you.)
“Love takes time. Love makes time. Even if it is only a second with the right person, it feels like a lifetime.” - I definitely agree!
“Sa lahat ng pagkakamali ko, ikaw ang pinakatama.”
“You are violating me, Miss Dela Cuesta!”
“Gusto mo pigain ko ang apdo mo?”
“Bakit mahirap umalis? O mahulog?”
“Ikaw ang pang-habang buhay na babae, Gab...”
“We cannot be in a relationship because we are only thankful.”
